My vote is that she plans to disclose some kind of childhood abuse that she thinks OP may have also experienced.

I'm nosy too - you have to call and update, OP!

I think your approach is right, and not bitchy at all OP.

I have a very dysfunctional family also and protecting my nuclear family from that insanity has been a top priority for me (and also a really helpful way for me to draw and maintain boundaries for myself.)

Good for you. I hope it's nothing that troubles you beyond managing the contact with your cousin.

That would be my first guess. I'd have no problem calling, but you have to be the kind of person who can say no and keep firm boundaries.

Yup, I vote for she needs money. You are probably one of the few family members that has her life together.

Call from a random phone if you can. My curiosity would get the best of me, but would be prepared to say no and get off the phone quick.

OP the fact that she didn't tell you what just means it's some weird trap.

Ok, so honestly, what could it possibly be that would be sooooo great that you would want to be involved with them? I can only think of two reasons...

1) the brother left you a million dollars. (well it's not going to be that...)

2) you and the brother, or her, are really siblings or something like that....
Let's say it's true....so...what? So you're going to get involved in that mess due to some shared DNA? Start down the road of spit tests etc?

Keep your eyes on the prize, OP...your calm life and the healthy environment you made for your kids.

Call but block your number. Then update here.

eh, I'd call her back. All that drama that you mentioned wasn't her doing.

+3 to being nosy, too.
