That said, time of commute (ex: 7am) and END of commute are also factors here.

We leave at 720, get there at 735. A little more than 5.5 miles. Navy Yard is 2 or 3 miles further out, so it wouldn't surprise me that it takes at least 10 minutes longer during the rush.

Potomac (right by the village): 30 seconds from bed to couch.

(Since OP didn't specify where we are commuting to, and that *is* my work commute)

You prefer I66 over 123/Parkway? I have a similar commute and take 123/parkway. It takes about the same amount of time.

Rosslyn to Gallery Place - 35 to 40 Min

15 min walk to get to the Metro station and all the way down that long escalator to the platform, 10 min ride to Metro Center, 3 minutes to switch trains, 2 minute ride to Gallery Place, 5 minute walk to office... extra 5 minutes of slush time for when the trains take a bit longer or I walk from Metro Center to work.

Yes, driving would probably be faster, but I like walking so those minutes don't really feel like commuting to me the way that sitting in a car in traffic does. I'm looking forward to being able to run or bike again when I'm not pregnant.

Old Commute: Bethesda (near NIH) to Penn Quarter: 45 min (mix driving and metro).

Vienna Metro station area. Take I 66. Drop child off at 7:00 exactly when SACC opens. Sign in to front desk book on K street almost every day between 7:31 and 7:34.

I know you don't believe me but that's when SACC opens and that's when the clock on the front desk shows I walked in the door.

North Potomac close to River Road to House - 45-50 minutes when traffic is moving smoothly (some Mondays and Thursday, most Fridays)... 60-70 minutes on a normal day. Much better if I leave home before 7:45am and leave work before 5:15pm. After 5:30pm it's easily 90 minutes midweek.

McLean (near Tysons) 30-35 minutes going to Archives at 7am, 40-45 minutes returning home at 4:15pm .

Takes me about 50 to 55 minutes. By bicycle. Transit (bus and metro) is about the same. By car, varies a lot, but from 25 to 40 minutes I guess (I seldom drive in).
