Yeah, but if you want her to meet a smart/rich husband while she's still fit, G-Town is worth its weight in gold.

Sorry OP, this looks like biggest waste of time in the world. You're going to make your kid hate you, and possibly college, by planning this excruciatingly boring trip.

Going to G-town will be the cheapest option of whatever school she picks........

Furman is lib art with no nursing program. not sure how it got the list but its now off... VCU and Hampton are out for this trip... wife and daughter may do a day trip to take a look... The diversity at Hampton is a bit worrisome...


Did she receive a scholarship to G-Town or are you or your wife on the faculty?

Daddy you are so intense.

If you are concerned about being so thorough, which is definitely commendable, if excessive, you should be looking more closely at the COURSES.

Find the courses which are the best fit for her and narrow your list down. Don't waste time with a college which has snuck onto your list which doesn't even have nursing.

I think you need to take a breath and regroup slightly here.

I agree that it feels like a lot. I think I looked at 4-5 schools and applied to 3 maybe we only look at her top pics elon, furman, USC and Wake... but its hard to pass up Duke and UNC when you are right next door.

Given her preferences (a real campus in close proximity to a real city) and the things she's rejecting (truly urban, sticks, college towns), I'd focus on Emory, USC, and maybe Wake -- the rest seem like a waste of time.

When it's time to head north: Penn, Pitt, Villanova, Case, BC

I think people are saying that sometimes less is more. Breezing through three campuses in a day is not going to give her much real information to go on. If she loves a campus from 10-12 on a gorgeous Tuesday of spring break, that doesn't mean she will love it for 4 years.


+1 and you really should think about why you have such a negative opinion about your kid: "bitching" for 4-6 years.

My mom made me do a thousand things to choose a college. I went to all those weekends, toured them all etc. I applied to 5, got in to all. In the end, I chose a very nice school that was a bad fit for me (probably the worst fit of the bunch I applied to) -- one most of our kids would kill to go to. You know what I did next? I applied to transfer and then I did. Do you know what I didn't do? Bitch.

Just remember that EVERYONE is on break that week, so the tour groups are going to be huge. That can make some schools feel a bit more overwhelming than they really are.

On the plus side, you'll probably see people you know at a few stops!

Since she has been to so many campuses already, more willbe a blur. Slow down and pick three to do in depth. At least one full day at each. Preferably a day and a half. Eat in the dining halls, see if she can listen in on a class, hang out in the student union..........

She already knows enough about what she likes and dislikes to do a more curated tour.
