Am I allowed to go to a Catholic Church to receive ashes if I'm of a different denom? Only the communion rule applies, right? That's convenient and right by my house...
Yes, that's correct. You're always welcome to anything but communion. (I think you can even go to confession, if you want....).

That's not true. Ashes can be distributed outside of a full mass. There is s shorter service done instead.
