PP from above who took 18 months and 3 IUIs. I should have added that every single one of my friends got pregnant within 3 months of starting TTC. Half of them have now had two babies, so it's definitely not a given that getting pregnant at 35 will be challenging. I guess I just wasn't one of the lucky ones to do it without intervention, but then again I consider myself really lucky that all it took was 3 IUIs. I definitely agree with others about TCOYF.

I would just sign up for fertilityfriend.com. Their introductory tutorial taught me everything I needed to know.

18 cycles at 30 - started at 28. Unexplained infertility. Just turned 32 and have been TTC #2 for six months (4 cycles). I didn't end up having any intervention last time but I'm seeing my OB soon and am going to ask about clomid, etc, since it seems that this isn't going to come easy for me.

It is hard to compare then and now because I wasn't being mindful of fertile days; just having sex when we could which was spotty because my husband was having issues because a medication he was on at the time caused sexual side effects. We subsequently had a wonderful baby at the least wonderful time for both of our jobs! We are trying to be better this time and I started to learn more about my cervical mucus (thank you DCUM for teaching me about that) and have gotten an ovulation tracker. Reading this post, however, scares me!

Then you shouldn't have a problem, as most people don't.

In all honesty, is that true? This post makes it seem like EVERYONE has problems they aren't talking about.

OP, anecdote time - based on the experiences of my friends and me, it's all down to whether your cycles are regular.

I have 4 friends with varying degrees of fertility struggles - all 4 have a history of irregular periods.
#1 Took over a year to conceive the first time, used Clomid 4x, had 2 m/c and 2 heathy kids
#2 was about to start Clomid but conceived after a year of trying. Subsequently got pregnant 2 more times very quickly, no m/c, 3 heathy kids.
#3 Got pregnant easily 4x, 2 m/c and 2 healthy kids
#4 Is pregnant now through IVF (first IVF) officially her diagnosis is "unexplained" (she ovulates) but history of irregular cycles

The rest of us who've always had clockwork periods - no losses, never took more than 3 or 4 months of trying

OP, that book will teach you so much. It should be required reading even if a woman doesn't want to have a baby. Everyone should learn about their bodies and know exactly what is going on. It's so insightful.

It's pretty much the TTC Bible. Take it in sections if you need to. It really is the best.

2 months at 35. (1 month at 32.) FYI I'm pretty Type A so when I didn't net preggers first try at 35 I got on the Glow app, used OPK kits and had sex basically every day for two weeks. Don't be obsessive like me if you can help it!
