This happened to me earlier this year. I attribute it to a new mouthwash I was using, I think it was a crest whitening mouthwash. In the past I was using listerine or another crest blue mouthwash. After using the new mouthwash for a week or 2 I suddenly couldn't eat spicy foods without pain in my tongue. After stopping the new mouthwash it took about a month for my tongue to heal and now its normal again.

I've experienced the same thing. I have an autoimmune disease that gives me pretty bad dry mouth. (Sjogren's Syndrome). I am hyper sensitive to spicy foods.
I would live to eat Chilli again.

I'm 56 yrs. I've had it now for over a decade and it's getting worse. I've not been diagnosed. But I found something on the internet about CAPSAICIN INTOLERANCE. CAPSAICIN is found naturally in chili peppers. I can't eat anything with black (white, etc.) pepper in it without my tongue stinging and my gums feeling numb. I also found that if I continue to eat that item, I start to feel nauseated. I try to drink milk or eat chocolate to make the stinging go away. It can sometimes take about 30 minutes for it to subside.

The thread goes back to 2017, and many were chiming in back then.

Have you seen a doctor for hand foot and mouth disease?

Hello

Hope this helps anyone but I had exactly the same and I tracked it back to a semi recent filling, I had testing and it turned out I was allergic to the materials in the filling - I had to have my fillings removed and replaced with ceramic ones.

This happened to me when I developed Lichen Nitidus. I got in in my mouth and on my hands. It's benign but had to be diagnosed by a dermatologist and I used steroid cream to treat it. Eventually it went away.

I’m experiencing the same thing. I’ve recently started using and ingesting xylitol and wonder if there is a connection. When I eat things things like baked goods, which tend to have a higher concentration of xylitol, I get an acidic burning sensation and I’m now hyper sensitive to spicy food. Any one else have that connection?

this has happened to me several times in my life ( I am 39). It then goes away and I can go back to eating spicy foods... but sometimes all of a sudden I can't anymore for a long period of time. I have never been able to figure it out. Strangely, I do have celiac disease! I have never heard of that connection before
