Agree. When I was a kid we actually enjoyed making the cards. Now no one does this.

Yes, most kids don't keep them long term. Too late for this year but next year during chirstmas time there are always photos site card deals, you don't have to include a pic of your child on the cards, you can upload any image you want and they will have valentine card templates.

Our (public) school doesn't allow ones with candy. I'm surprised to see so many people reference it.

In theory, I would have been into making them, but with 22 to give out (kids and teachers) there was no way that was happening. It was enough of an ordeal to have her write all the names and her name (she's in K, so writing is still a work in progress).

Paper Source! Usually requires a glue stick but very little d-i-y involved. They are all so cute and nicely made!

We made them this year. I drew and cut out hearts from red construction paper and DD (6) decorated them. I figured I didn't want to spend since they usually end up in the recycling.

I may be the minority, but I like making them---fun activity for DD (3 yrs. old.) Dot pens, glitter glue, stickers, stamps, etc. And I added a pack of gummy hearts to each one.

Personally I hate the entire idea and have always bought the cheapest possible for DS. He doesn't care and we all know they get thrown out.

Then I had my DD who is my opposite. She loves making them for her classmates. Last year we bought her kits from Oriental Trading. I saw some on sale at Michael's over the weekend. The Dollar Tree had foam Valentine's Day cut outs and stickers and she made them from scratch one year.
