Oh my god, NO! What I'm saying is that the hotel can't make sure everyone is out if they don't know all the people they're trying to account for.

In case of a fire, the fire department will search every single room and will not rely on the hotel's records.

3 little kids and parents in one room is fine. It's when they get to be teenagers that you need to spend the extra money for another room. Enjoy the savings while the kids are little!

And firefighters systematically go through every room searching for people. They will not stop to ask the hotel which rooms are occupied by how many people.

Agree with pp's that said to check in with just one person, hotels are stricter. We've also had hotels tell us that they do not provide roll-a-ways anymore.

The nicer the hotel, the more strict they are going to be, in my experience.

I think this is more than perfectly fine. I doubt anyone in the hotel would even care.

To be very honest, this sounds like no fun at all to begin with. Hotel living during vacation can be awful. I don't know where you are going, but you might think of renting a condo or house where you could have more flexibility. Good luck!

Florida or Caribbean. Flight and hotel prices are already double or triple for spring break. I am going to book for 2 adults 2 kids and then bring the baby.

I remember many fond family vacations where the six of us would be in one hotel room with our parents, sleeping bags laid out on the floor. We would often wait in the car while my dad checked in and then went in through a side entrance. There will be posters who will go off about the immorality of this, but it created tons great memories as a child of family vacations, and I didn't grow up to believe in playing the system or lacking a sense of right and wrong.


+1000 We have five kids and our Dad. We usually get two rooms and we are crammed in like sardines. It is a blast and we wouldn't have it any other way! We were in NYC over Christmas and there was a porter down the hall helping another family. For some reason we were all exiting the connecting rooms through one door and the porter said to the guests he was helping that it was like 'looking at a clown car'. Our kids were cracking up! Plus, OP, a baby! Come on. No way should you be charged full freight for a baby!

We get one room for our family of five and our kids are 16, 13 and 11 - all one gender. Flame away. It works for us and we all like it.

We had trouble once out in utah. Fortunately we were traveling with family who only had one kid so they could take one of ours. Otherwise we would have been kicked out of the hotel because there were no vacancies.

I have two splints, and we never, ever got two hotel rooms. We just got a rollaway cot from the front desk. I think hotels are getting stricter to make more money, but feel free to push back for an infant.

It will be fine.

It would be 2 adults 2 kids (ages 5 and 7) and an infant. Infant would sleep in crib or pack n play.


That is very doable.
