For fishing and boating, go to Boca Grande (island south of Sarasota but north of Ft. Myers)...

Mediocre pool and beach/ocean is crummy since it's on Atlantic (as opposed to Gulf) coast.
Rooms are nothing special and it's bordered by high-rise condos, so our room had a lovely view . . . of someone's living room.
Are the beaches on the gulf side better than the atlantic side?
