I agree about some dentists being more pushy than others... a few years ago I went to a new dentist (after my old dentist of many years retired), was told I needed a huge amount of work done... I felt uneasy so decided to get a second opinion, first time in my life I've ever gotten a second opinion on dental issues. The second dentist (highly reputable with a very patient base) said I needed NO work done, I've now been back to her several times and am very happy.

How much do crowns/root canals cost? And how long will a crown last?
I know I am going to be getting one soon. Cracked tooth and feeling sensitive.

It is genetic and I did not hit the jackpot. Despite meticulous care, I spend a fortune!

I am 50. I think a lot of this is genetic. I'm lucky. I get two cleanings a year covered by insurance. I had one cavity in September. That cost me $75.
Every once in awhile the dentist replaces a filling that's cracked or lifted. That's $75 but it happens every five years or so.
So far I've never had any other work done.

My dental plan pays for extra cleanings (3 per year instead of 2) for diabetics and people with heart disease. If you aren't one of those, no need.
