Yes. Once I was traveling alone with my children, who were between 2-8 at the time. I had to do laundry in the hotel's laundry room, which was on a different floor, so I left the room long enough to get that done and then immediately returned to the room. I still felt very nervous about it.
Maybe your husband can stay in the room with your child and you can go to his work function?

This same topic was in the GP forum a few years ago. It got super heated, but you might want to check there for all the pros/cons.

We were staying on the second floor. I put DD to bed and came down to the dining room on the first floor for dinner.
I wasn't happy about it. It felt awkward. I was worried the whole time about what if there was an emergency. The rest of the nights of our stay, I refused.
That's how I think I would feel but people think I'm being odd...
Our monitor works anywhere. I can watch the baby sleeping if I'm in another state even.
PP here. Honestly, I knew that odds were on the side of everything being fine. When I got back upstairs after maybe 45 minutes, she was sleeping just fine. Had barely moved since I left. But it just didn't feel right. We live in an apartment building, and I had no problems running the trash down to the basement or going down to get the mail, but the hotel situation just felt different. I opted to trust my gut.
