So weird. I'd pay 1/2 and wouldn't even think about it. Of course the niece isn't splitting the hotel costs! Why would you split it 3 ways? That's ridiculous.

I'd say 1/3 is technically fair but 1/2 is the rate for not ruffling family feathers. Why didn't you get a room with two queen beds so you get one and they share one?

The people saying "1/2" are the people who try and get their teenagers to say they're under 10 so they can eat for free at the buffet.

Next time, discuss money beforehand. 1/3 would be fair since there were two of them and you slept on a sofa.
