Case in point: at three schools, school starts at 8:45. At one, you can drop off (without paying for a.m. care) anytime between 8:15 and 8:45 (teachers are in classrooms supervising). At another, kids wait outside and then line up at 8:35--theoretically you're supposed to supervise until that point, but actual practice is that most parents leave (and you're not allowed to walk your kids into the classroom past K). At another, you MUST walk your kid into the classroom every day and they must arrive in between 8:30-8:45. And all of the schools have different practices regarding a drop-off line, or 15-min parking, or a lot, etc....
Many schools, especially the charters, have parent handbooks posted online. They will include details about dropoff/pickup, after care, potty training/accident protocols, allergy protocols and more. Take the time to find and read these before finalizing your lottery picks.
