At EL Haynes elementary, parents drop off on both sides of school. There is ample street parking on the Kansas Avenue side, but there is also street parking on the 7th Street side. You can drop off in the classroom between 8:10-8:30 (school starts at 8:30). Before that, you need to pay for before care. Parents of slightly older kids frequently just pull over on Kansas and watch their kids walk into the school, but many parents walk kids in even when they are older.

It has not changed. It's still a PITA. School doesn't seem to be doing anything about it either.

Our OOB school is a mile away. Doors open up at 8:15 but we are there at 8 to ensure we get a parking spot.
Any later it will be a kiss and go type of situation, but my younger child (PK4) likes for me to walk him in although his 2nd grade sibling can do it.
If we don't get there early, it's better to wait until closer to 8:45, but I need to be in the office by 9:30 or I have to put in leave.

Many schools, especially the charters, have parent handbooks posted online. They will include details about dropoff/pickup, after care, potty training/accident protocols, allergy protocols and more. Take the time to find and read these before finalizing your lottery picks.

Plenty of street parking around Barnard, Zone 4C I think? and a parking lot in the back that usually has spots open for quick walk-in.
At Hearst there are some restrictions due to security on 37th Street (Sidwell/Secret Service is across the street.) You can usually find a spot a few steps down from the school entrance but unless you are Zone 3 you can't leave your car there all day. Preschool kids you walk them to the playground/gym for morning line-up. Older kids you pull over, they jump out, 2 minutes tops unless you are meeting other parents or want to hang around the playground until the kids file in. Pickup takes as long as it takes to park, walk in and sign the kid out. Allow a few extra minutes if they are on the playground!

Lee Montessori has a kiss and go lane and staff will unbuckle and take your kids out of the car and escort them into the school. At pick up, they'll buckle in kids who need help.
There's also a lot of parking if you need it, though that will change when most of the grounds get paved over.

CMI has a big parking lot, drop off lane and bike parking. Some kids do metro and take a metro bus to the front gate of AFRH and walk. Ppl who are close tend to walk or bike.

At Shepherd, there's a dropoff lane in front of the school. There's also plentiful street parking within a block of 14th & Jonquil. There's occasionally a couple of folks in a rush that don't fully stop at stop signs, etc., but luckily haven't seen that in a while. There are also student safety patrols who help direct pedestrians.
We're walkers, may not have our finger on the pulse of car dropoff, but overall the system put in place by the new principal seems to be working smoothly.

OP here-- 20 minutes? Ayyyy! We live close enough to Inspired Teaching so I would be ok with that, but 20 minutes at a school that is farther away would not be doable.
There is plenty of parking within a block at ITS. The 20 minute quote is based on your kid so would be the same at any school (even your IB).

Some schools may also do a morning assembly that you can theoretically leave your kids at, but K and younger, you'll probably have to stay. My first grader now does kiss and ride (and I don't even walk to classroom; he says he's fine). But before this year, I couldn't do that.
Do not underestimate how long parking will take. You + hunderds of others looking for the same few spots.
Not everyone can do this, but we all leave together in the morning (2 kids at different schools, younger preschool-age child requires parking and walking in). This way I can get out with my older child at the kiss and ride line and we don't need to look for parking.

Yu Ying and Shining Stars both have drop off lanes. LAMB does not (at either campus).
