I have only one question -- can your parents adopt me too?

Thanks. My parents are very open about their finances. We've talked about it before and have ongoing conversations.

Yep, but will their answer change when you tell them you're moving the grand kids overseas? Just kidding. Do it OP.

While it works out most of the time, I do have two friends who were counting on something that never materialized and they had to scramble when their children were in the later part of HS.

Yup. NP here. We've been promised 130k ewch for our kids education. Thisnhas not stopped us one bit from going full tilt saving for our kids education via the virginia pre pay 529. If we get the money, great. The kids can go to private out of state. Of we dont, fine, virginia has a wonderful public university system.

With that siad, yes, i would take the adventure.

I wish this was an option but as attorneys it's hard to be employed by two entities, even if you aren't currently being paid by one. Too many possibilities of conflicts of interest. Also, i can't imagine either of our current jobs being happy about holding our jobs vacant for 2+ years.

Can you take LWOP from your jobs for 2 years and then see if you want to go back or look for new jobs?
