NP here. You seem very offended by a reasonable comment. Why would we not want to hear from a mom of an older kid who has been there done that? I find it helpful.

My child finds Math homework easy both in private and public schools. We are enriching at home with a tutor.

during K? Sure, because they are still trying to get kids all at a basic level. Starting in first, they can place the kids with similar skills and even differentiate within the classroom. So your child will be placed in a group that is more challenging if needed. It sort of kicks up a notch each year (the differentiation). My son is in 4th and now brings home homework he has to explain to me. As in, he asks me to check it and I can't always without him walking through the logic.

I think it was in 1st and second where hthe homework was all over the place. Some questions so easy and others hard. One teacher explained to me that it was that way by design, so they could get a feel for where each child was in terms of learning.

Unless your kid is the lowest common denominator then they will find the things easy. That is the problem with public school. We have really enjoyed private school which raised the floor of "worst student" greatly because of admissions testing.

Yes, but no complaints. I had a really relaxed carefree childhood (zero stress about academics) and would like the same for my DCs. I have three kids in elementary and all are able to work several grades above what they are doing now according to the school's testing.
