I would not have known how to pronounce it. Until I saw the pronunciation, I was thinking more like A-mon. More middle eastern sounding, I guess. It's not an awful name, but he will be correcting pronunciation and spelling his entire life.

As someone with an unusual name I can tell you that most people (including myself) won't know how to pronounce it and if they hear it, won't be able to spell it. Every year I had to correct every teacher, every time I heard my name called at the doctor's office I had to clarify they meant me. When I use my name it usually takes people a while to get it right and I often have to spell it out.
My mother had a common name in a year it was popular and she wanted me to have a unique name so that I wouldn't have to share my name with classmates. There are drawbacks both ways. If you like Eamonn, I say go with it, but yes, he will have to spend some time clarifying it.

Your list is similar to ours. Really similar. (We went with one name not on there: Owen.) Not surprisingly, I like Eamonn.
