LOL! I haven't experienced this except one friend's husband told me, speaking about their red-headed little girl, " She's going to have such an unfair advantage in life because of the color of her hair." He knows that my own daughter has brown hair. I was kind of at a loss how to respond.

I was worried about my redhead getting teased in private school, but it never materialized. He's been called a ginger before but he embraces it as unique.

I think kids have been schooled in PC so much that kids don't make too many comments on appearance anymore. Or maybe that's wishful thinking.

Can't post it here, but the Prince Harry Vegas pics off him running around on his birthday suit are pretty awesome. All I can say is he's a genuine ginger.

+1 on the pics.

Wow. I'm a believer.

Yes. It's part of the private school secret code. We make fun of kids with red hair. Anyone who won't agree to do so during their admissions interview is permanently banned and shunted off to public school. Too bad you've outed us.

Everyone in my family has red hair except me - siblings, nieces and nephews, cousins. They all endured lots of teasing.

In the UK, they are called gingers, not red-heads. I think the term came to the US via the Harry Potter books.

Ginger woman here. I was bullied in school but it's because I was a nerd, not my hair.

I have always thought this was the case as well, but I really have no idea. There have been actual PSAs in other countries about this.
Here's one that came out in Canada.
