OP, call around and see who will give you the best price - if you do please let us know as I'd like to leave USAA but haven't put the time into calling around.

My husband's ex maintained her USAA, I think after divorce. You are linked by prior marriage. That is silly to lose a good customer. They are a very strange company. Sometimes they are cheaper, sometimes not.

They refused to originally insure our house due to the condition even though we did the repairs quickly. State Farm was great and eventually we switched to USAA as it was 1/2 the cost. But, talking to friends, some pay similar prices for insurance.

12 years. My husband did total my a car of mine recently (he had borrowed it), but it was judged to be the other driver's fault. My husband also dented both of our neighbor's cars recently. He has a number of speeding tickets, though not sure if that is taken into consideration. I have a clean driving record, no at-fault accidents and low mileage per year.

We just switched to Erie from GEICO, and Erie is way better. Cheaper, better coverage.

This is the OP. I am filing for divorce from the primary USAA member. I talked to USAA to try and separate my car and other insurance out and set up a separate account so that I could pay it separately, and they told me that I had no eligibility unless I was linked to the qualifying member. Maybe I need to talk to someone else. I was trying to separate finances, per instructions from my lawyer.

Navy Fed is terrible and they don't have insurance. We pulled our money out.
