DS1 answers with a grunt and a shrug; DS2 says "stuff."

While it is totally normal, I always get the impression at parent teacher conferences that the teachers seem to think we know what goes on at school. Some of them don't realize we have NO clue. The only things I know are what the teacher tells us.

I ask what was the best part of your day and what was the worst part of your day.

I ask very specific questions during dinner. What did you learn in math today? What was the topic of art? Who did you play with? What did you play? Did you learn something fun, cool, or interesting? What game did you play in gym? If DS offers info without being prodded, I make time to listen when the info is offered.

Introvert mom of an introvert kid here. I finally learned to just say did you have a good day today? And then about an hour or two after school and she's been able to play in her room and watch a show then she's much more willing to give details or answer specific questions.
