Has anyone had experience with the camps other than football? Not interested in the school but can see paying for an exceptional camp. Based on PP saying son is returning for football camp again, I assume it was a good program.

What about for the other sports such as basketball, football and lacrosse? Are there also two tracks for those? I can't see McAloon going there if it is not a serious basketball program. He seemed well liked and respected as a basketball coach in the DMV.

For lacrosse, Georgetwon prep beat them. You probably can find as good or better lacrosse here

I think IMG hurts itself by taking on sports they cannot be the absolute best at, or very close to it. I've seen several DMV kids go there for soccer who were nowhere near the best kids on their team, let alone the whole area. I'm guess that their parents has the $ to send them. They were all back within a year or two, as are most of the kids that go to Europe for soccer from the area.

They're spending it for the athletic training, not for the academics. The academics are just there to make it possible for the athletes to train full-time. While the cost is nuts, it's not unusually high compared to what elite athletes in other sports spend on training (which is also nuts!) It's not unlike ski academies.

I know they are trying to go all in with their basketball program. Their football program is one of the best in the country. As is their baseball program.

Lacrosse is not as big a sport in the South as it is here so PP is right - there are a lot better lacrosse programs locally.

It's a place in Florida that's trying to be a destination for tournaments and to be a boarding school. Die of the facilities are nice, some are meh. We were there for a soccer tournament and the soccer facilities are average, but there is a big football stadium. It's in a nowhere part of Florida near the beach. I don't know if the school is any good - what they are selling you is training to make your kid a pro athlete.

Yep - it used to be Nick Boilletteri's Academy but IMG took over.
