Look lives are busier, communities are bigger, roles and expectations are less predetermined, we meet people in all sorts of ways (on the bus, on an airplane, WHILE WEARING PANTS) that women didn't used to. Just go have a drink with one of these men who seems decent. If you like him have a second. If not, meet another!

Don't get the resistance to online dating, especially at this point. How is it worse than meeting at a bar where it is probably loud, dark, and you might be at least somewhat drunk.

Don't get me wrong. i don't think there is anything wrong about meeting someone at a bar. i had a number of good relationships that started at a bar, but i think online can also be a good way to meet someone.

A friend of mine met her husband on J-Date. They're "happy," and she's on valium. Her sister met her husband on Match, and his wedding vows included how hot she was when he saw her online. They have a baby and are getting divorced now.

met DH on match. we were both divorced with kids, and online was just the best way to safely cast a wider net to meet people when you don't have the time or the energy like when you were young, single and kid-free.

My luck was terrible and at first, I was definitely too willing to meet people and perhaps was too willing to overlook some initial flaws. I probably went on a 100 first dates and a handful of second dates. I sat through so many horrible coffee/drink dates and nearly cancelled my subscription right before I met DH. I saw his profile and wow, he captivated me - he had a great profile (that actually squared up in real life with who he is) and he is so handsome. Went on our first date and the rest was history.

My advice is that you've got to be patient and learn to screen carefully but there are some real keepers out there - I know, I married one!

I met my spouse online. Can't even remember the name of the site but it was a free one too. I had grown weary of meeting people online so I took my profile down. Then a friend wanted to show me a woman he started dating online. The only way for me to see the woman's profile was for me to "reactivate" mine. Once it was reposted, it was a few days before I could remove it again based on the site's restrictions. In that time, my future spouse got in touch so I always say I found him when I wasn't looking, lol.

But seriously, I know a few very happy couples that met on Match. Two of the couples met a while ago, and are now married with kids. The other couple is engaged - one is divorced with kids, the other was not previously married. As I said, everyone seems very happy!

I met my husband through eharmony, there were some not so great matches and I was going to give up and cancel my subscription and then he wrote me and I decided to give it one more shot. We married early this year. Be open to dating someone you may have not matched yourself with in person, it worked out for me with no regrets!
