IB schools in FCPS don't offer AP classes ( except for Robinson).

In addition, freshman at IB schools take World History 2 instead of 1...because the IB class later will cover the World History 1 content.

Wrong. South Lakes offers AP Government. My sophomore is taking it now.

PP should have said IB schools in FCPS other than Robinson don't offer more than a few AP courses.

FCPS committed to adding some AP courses to South Lakes back in 2008 to try and mollify parents who did not their kids redistricted to an IB school.

If you want to do this, I recommend scheduling a meeting with the IB coordinator at the school the student will end up at BEFORE choosing freshman classes at the AP school to ensure the course sequence will work with IB.

Yes. The social studies sequence is different, so the AP kids end up taking classes typically taken by students in younger grades at the AP school.

Yes, no problem. The IB Diploma Program is for grades 11 and 12. You don't need to do PYP or MYP to enroll in the Diploma program.

No big deal. AP is just individual classes with a certain curriculum.
