President Donald Trump threatened to open an investigation into former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie over the 2013 "Bridgegate" scandal on August 24, 2025, hours after Christie criticized him during an appearance on ABC's *This Week* on the same day.


In a similar manner, Trump threatened to withdraw federal funds for the repair of the Ke Bridge and deploy the national guard in Baltimore within hours of a heated exchange with Governor Wes Moore on social media.

In his first term when there were some guard rails, Trump wouldn’t have been able to implement such threats. But Trump 2 gets almost anything he wants.

We had been up to New York shortly before this happened. There are always inconvenient traffic jams at that location. Worst traffic jam I have ever seen except for one in The Netherlands during tulip time.


That was not an "inconvenient" traffic jam. This is major east coast interstate route and the slowdown lasted for four days! On the first day, there were kids stuck on school buses for 9+ hours, a woman who died when her ambulance got stuck, police could not get to where they needed to be. It had a ripple effect across 3 states. It was an abuse of power and a safety crisis. Sadly, Christie managed to avoid and prosecution, but it certainly has cost him politically.


Exactly. And all for political retribution.

At issue was ultimately a traffic jam.

In which a woman died because she was in an ambulance that couldn’t get her to the hospital.

The court picks which cases they take up. “Each year, the court receives approximately 9,000–10,000 petitions for certiorari, of which about 1% (approximately 80–100), are granted plenary review with oral arguments.” Some of them obviously thought it was important.


Clearly it was since it was unanimous.

This is yet another stain on the Obama Justice Dept.

Paul Fishman, the prosecutor in this case, was an Obama appointee.

For SCOTUS to issue a unanimous decision striking down the conviction, you know he really F'ed up.
