Besides, The whole reason of mentioning the priest hole in this episode was (in addition to being able to escape the nazis) was a long way to get in yet another James Bond joke.
Even more lame. Ian Fleming was dead way b/f Skyfall came out.
Also, a quick google search would yield that there are actual castles in Germany with secret passage ways, e.g.,:

So yes, if they can fact check things easily, then they should. They could use a real castle, real secret passages, and yeah, drawn closer from missions that Ian Fleming actually participated in. The whole priest hole/Ian Fleming connection was lame and just showed a lack of imagination.
Fleming did write Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, so maybe that's how they should have escaped the Nazis.
(Also, Fleming was butt ugly and it was well known that he had a ton of STDs IRL. The fact that they're trying to make his personality a suave Bond-type hitting on Lucy and she likes it is laughable.)

He's kind of a B actor. Not terrible, but kinda stiff and cardboard cut-out man.

Germany was riven by the Catholic-Protestant religious wars of the 1500s as well, and you can just Google to find pictures of so-called priest holes in Germany.
I'm sure they exist in Germany; just that they were much more common in England b/c Catholicism was actually outlawed there at one time and it wasn't in Germany. Conflicts existed, but not actually outlawed.

This is what I hate about bad writing. Obviously one of the show's writer had watched Skyfall and remembered the priest hole. Except the castle in Skyfall was in Scotland not in Germany...Sloppy writers deserve a wrap on the knuckles.

It has the curse of that actor in it, Matt Lanter, he was in my DD's favorite movie, about figure skating.... All of his shows die before the first season is over... He is also the voice of Anakin Skywalker in Clone Wars, that was his longest gig.

Agreed. I like this show a lot. I even commented to DH that there's finally a show that I am not embarrassed watching with my kids around. Unlike that wonderful, filthy show Shameless. I have to watch that one in my bedroom with the door locked and headphones on! But such a great show!
