I don't expect anything anymore. If it doesn't specify, call or email and ask. I'm guessing the parents are also new to the birthday party scene and perhaps don't realize that information is handy to include on the invitation.

Absolutely. We went to a party at My Gym when my child was 2. Party was 4-6. Could not believe dinner was not served. They served cupcakes only.
It would be less offensive if kids were older but still should serve food.

Always specify on the invitation:
"Dinner and cake will be served."
or
"Cake and snacks will be served."
If the invitation doesn't say, call and ask.

Yes. If a party ends at 6 it needs to include dinner because it's likely at the toddler/preschool age that you have folks coming from lots of different areas and many won't get home for 30+ minutes, making it really hard to get dinner on the table before 7pm. My kids at that age could not make it to 7 without dinner.
