Gotta vote with the do not ask team. He needs to ask you. If he is really interested he will make a point to see you and ask you to lunch.

I think your convo was enough to let him know you are interested. You need to wait it out and let him ask you. Don't be too eager because it shows even if you don't think it does. Be cool. If he doesn't ask the next time you see him, don't be so friendly.

This. Do NOT ask first. You need to see whether he really wants to ask you out or that you are just convenient/easy.

"Wanna go have lunch with me today?"

If the answer is no, ask what day works.

See? Not hard.

She did that - he said no.

OP here
We are not actually co workers, he and I both do work in different capacities for the same company. I actually work there and he is similar to a vendor that comes in a few times per week.

I'd take you to lunch then I'd hit it.

Disagree. I met my wife at work and have slept with 10 women at various jobs over the years. What can I say.

Um yeah. Don't date at work especially if you are the new guy/gal

Given it was last week you need to move real fast via text or email. Something fun and chatty. If you wait too long then it losses any element of spontaneity. FYI - many years ago my DW and I were co-workers and had been just friends for three years. One day she asked me if, at lunch time, I could pick her up after she dropped off her car for some work. I said sure and on the way back to work we stopped for lunch. Fun lunch! We've been happily married for a long time.

I consider myself a feminist but I also agree let the man chase you. But give him enough confidence that you'll say yes when he asks. Keep flirting but let him ask.
