My own mother, when she got a job in 1978 in a not-very-conservative area -- Philadelphia -- was required to supply proof of birth control (a letter from her doctor and a receipt for the meds) before they would hire her because they were afraid she'd run off and get pregnant. They told her this to her face. Now, this is the opposite issue of not having access to birth control, but think about the implications for a minute. How many of you would ever think that could happen today? And just because times have changed, that does not make my mother a liar. This shit happened. Learn some history and get a clue.
Yep. My own mother, a brilliant woman who went to MIT and was one of the first computer programmers, was passed over for a promotion at a large corporation. Her boss told her straight out that she was better, but he gave it to the male candidate because he ha a family to support, whereas my mom had a husband who had a good job.
She was also sexually harassed at work.

In the same way that the stories black people tell of their experiences are minimized, there's a conservative line that women never really had it that bad, that we never faced paternalism in medicine, school, or career, or if we did it wasn't that bad, that SAHM had a sweet non-working deal and should have been grateful that they never had to go out and work, that sexual harassment wasn't that bad, and rape only existed for dirty women. When they read personal anecdotes about the experiences of a woman they already despise, with zero reason, it bothers them even more. So of course she's making it up. Dam wimmen libbers.
