I had really thick, kind of wavy hair until by pure chance I had an appointment with a stylist who cuts hair with a razor. She was like "Wow, no one has ever thinned this for you?" and cut away gobs of hair. Then she gave me an awesome chin length bob. No triangle head! Now I am growing it out long (down to my boobs) and it is awesome because when I had my hair like this in college I had headaches all the time from how heavy it was. It was also so frizzy and un-styled looking. Now it's really light with gentle layers. I hardly even use my flat iron any more.

This lady has really changed my life (hairwise, of course). Interestingly, she has some bad yelp reviews from women who feel she has thinned their hair too much. I will go to her until the day I die. I don't live in DC otherwise I would say where, but I think maybe the razor cut is key. Lots of people have used thinning shears on me but my hair has never looked this good.

Nicole is at Scissor and Comb now. And Fiddleheads is WAY overpriced IMHO.

Huge fan on ondor at Georgetown salon and spa. Also sounds like you would be a good candidate for a Brazilian blowout/keratin treatment.

Again, I got a disasterous cut WAY shorter than I had intended or asked for. The second cut was to try to thin it out. Why do hairstylists not listen when you tell them not to go that short??

Yes, that is her! I believe she has been at Salon 46 since leaving Lorraine Aprile several years ago. You need to book your appointments with her in advance because she is so popular, and her clients seem to book early. She is worth it though!

Yes, agreed. Leigh is fantastic. My hair is thick (not as thick as yours, OP, but still quite thick) and curly, and she does a fantastic job with it.
