She can still touch germy stuff with the gloves on and transfer them via gloves. Make your own damn coffee at home.

So I said to the guy who handed me the cup, "Shouldn't she be wearing gloves if she's handling the lids...and touching the area where people drink from?" He rolled his eyes and she rolled her eyes and sighed. I asked for the cup and a new lid so I could replace it myself.

Just curious what you've noticed when getting your coffee and what your comfort level is?

I make sure the barista licks her hands before placing the lid on my coffee. I believe in natural immunity.

Good luck with that! Flu and pneumonia are already starting (early this year).

I think what you saw is grossing you think about it too hard, but that is true if you think about a lot of what happens in the food industry. Try not to think too hard about it. And good luck to you. I hope whatever is going on gets better very soon.

Thanks. I always watch, and it was just particularly egregious how she was shoving her palm on top of the opening (which is elevated specifically so you shouldn't have to touch it--you can just push the lid on by the rim).

This is typical. Just ask for a new lid or drink without it. Unless she was bleeding or something.

Or maybe simply not touch the part of the lid where you drink from?

The opening is actually elevated and away from the rim of the lid. It's not difficult to avoid it.

Now as for the coffee thing....

BAD mood or not, you are way over reacting. this would not have even been on my radar. Do you wear gloves when you pick up your cell phone? because based on your reaction at DD you should probably be wearing a Hazmat suit whenever you get near your phone.

You made yourself look bad at DD, if that matters to you and maybe it doesn't. but the next time you go in there you'll be "that guy".

I'll never be in that DD again because it's not in my area. How hard is it to put on a lid without touching the small area that you drink from?

PP here. Okay so even after numerous people telling you that you are wrong you are still insisting that someone where gloves when they handle that plastic lid for your coffee? You need psychological help.

All of these posts later and you are still insisting you have a valid point? You don't. You should've taken the "bad mood" out you were given.

I worked at a coffee shop for years--gloves are just not feasible.

Ask for your lid on the side.

Don't ever get lemons in your water at a restaurant.

No door handle at the drive-thru.

If the coffee girl wipes her nose, germs.
