1) Father was active duty military and mother was restaurant employee. Mother was having an affair and left the house without the child for a short time while arranging a new home.

2) Father was a state police officer, mother was a federal contractor. Dad verbally abused mom, so mom left home w/2 kids and moved them all to an apartment. Dad hired expensive lawyer and bribed the kids. Dad got full custody, with mom getting pretty good visitation, but he turned the kids against mom so she ended up not seeing them often because they'd fight visiting her.

That's horrible! Parental Alienation is what it is called. So sad for those kids. The father hated the wife more than he loves his kids.

I am looking for examples where the father was granted primary custody. I don't believe there's a snowball's chance in Hell that he will get what he wants, but it still scares me to think there's a remote possibility this could happen.

I know of one case, and grandma was also given custody. Grandma was given guardianship too.

But in this case, the mother was in and out of rehab. Not keeping it up. And all of that was the primary reason for divorce.

So, extreme.

I have never heard of it otherwise.

Why? It's pretty rare for moms to get that little time.

She was a mess. In court she came across as angry and vindictive. She made false allegations of abuse. The guardian ad Litem and the court appointed psychiatrist recommended primary custody go to my DH. It's rare, but it does happen.

Are you 9?

Unfortunately, he's not. He's probably a loser dude who happens to be a troll in his early 40s.

I'm in VA and I know a dad with primary custody.

Mom travels a lot for work. I also don't think she fought the arrangement.

NO, this is wrong.

OP, I've never seen it happen around here, but it does happen more and more. He would need to come up with a VERY compelling case (and probably a child custody evaluation which would take 6 months and at least $20,000) to prove that there is something wrong with you.

And even then, he would probably only get 2/3 of the time.

I think 50-50 is pretty much the going thing right now. Good luck to you.

Yes, I know of one. Mom walked out on the family and never returned. She had long standing substance abuse issues, really got into meth. The dad was a teetotaler. The son is now in his late 20s, hasn't spoken with his mother in 15+ years.

Yes. He was rich, she was not. She also had mental issues including a suicide attempt. Terrible situation for everyone involved.

Yes I know of one and I couldn't believe it when it happened; they were both under disasters and neither of them should've been allowed to adopt a puppy let alone a raise a child.

What you really have going on here is two scumbag lawyers who will have you both fighting until they get the sense that the coffers are about to run dry; as soon as you're down to your last $7000 they will advise you to settle.
