Just for a few days. They are adorable (they are not gross!) and they can be sociable but more often they are not. Really their eyes are adapted to be awake at night not during the day. If you look at pet mice versus wild mice there's a big difference in their eye size - the wild mice often can't stand having their eyes open much when it's very bright out and mostly they will be stressed and not fun as a pet.

After a few days let her go. Clean out the cage and select something else from the pet store.

I definitely would. Put some water in a bottlecap/ saucer, and some peanut butter/ chick peas in the cage, and then when he's bigger, you can let him go. He will surely die if you put him out now, at least give him a chance.
