DCI's only 2 years old though, right? And doesn't even have it's permanent facility? Yet it's already more desirable among a certain set of families than the local and traditional offerings.

The bodes well for the school, but the envious are definitely going to come it at.


How do you determine "more desirable"?

Doesn't work in this case. DCI is 53% FARMS, 20% Spec Education and very diverse racially and ethnically:

I'm sure. Doesn't mean DCI is a better school, just means that the family has different values. I am IB for Deal but sticking with our charter through 8th for personal preferences as well. Doesn't mean I think that overall my current Charter is better than Deal.

Not that many (see page 43 http://www.dcpcsb.org/sites/default/files/Choosing%20Quality%20Report_0.pdf ) but not sure what you think that indicates.

The reality is DCI is going to be really hard for non-feeder school students to get into unless

a) significant numbers of students from its feeder schools don't enroll for 6th

or

b) significant numbers of students from DCI middle choose not to attend for high school

At this point they have fewer middle seats for new applicants than Hardy OOB, Latin or BASIS.

Lots of charters ahead of DCI in terms of test scores. They have just their first class of 9th graders now. http://www.dcpcsb.org/evaluating/parcc

I think the updated DCPCSB Tier Ratings - which will come out in November - will help answer these questions. In addition to PARCC scores, the Tier ratings take attrition and rate of individual student growth year over year into account.

Yes, Here's the problem:

SWW has quota-based admissions, and doesn't offer an IB Diploma. Banneker isn't diverse.

These aren't good enough for us.
