I loved Gilmore girls but there are plenty of popular shows I disliked. I just did not watch them.
Because I felt left out.Everyone always talked about or referenced the show, so I thought I was missing something really great. I started to watch it and was annoyed, but was kind of curious where it went and was hopeful that it would become less annoying. And I wanted to know who Lorelai would end up with. And I wanted to watch the reboot that everyone was excited about. I am a pop culture follower.

And I often found myself feeling bad for Emily, having to deal with Lorelai's *constant* mocking and teasing. It would really get old if I knew someone like that IRL. That said, Lorelai did have great comic delivery and could be charming. Rory, though beautiful, was so dull.
I think this poster nailed it. It's not that we don't want to watch, because the story is good, and we all want to live in star's hollow, but each season you roll your eyes a little more at the eating and the dialog (like clerks- good but nobody is really that fast/witty/smooth) and then all of a sudden you are that boiling frog. You are in it and didn't realize how slowly awful it was getting while you were immersed in it... I watched to the end and was sad at the last episode but I still agree with the insufferable analysis!
Yes! This exactly.
There are some charming, funny moments what seems like interminable filler, obnoxious moments.

I guess you could say she was well written because some love her, and to others she was unlikeable. Unlikeable characters are all the rage now.
Unlikeable is more realistic. Harder to watch, but I'll give it to the writers on being pioneers in that way.
I don't think they wrote her to be unlikeable. The writing isn't good enough. I think she's supposed to be SO likeable and "every girl" that she's just annoying. Like, look at me! I'm so cute and fun! Grocery shopping is more fun than a fancy restaurant for the date.

Lorelai was also overly silly about everything. It was also so unrealistic how they could eat all that junk food and not gain weight and how Rory almost always got what she wanted. I also couldn't stand how fast they talked!
Thank God, I thought I was the only one. Absolutely hate this show. Lorelei is so annoying I could not bear to watch.

Anonymous wrote:The eating bothers me the most. I would be ok with them splurging on their movie nights. That's realistic and many people bond over junk food. What got to me was supposedly eating bugers, French fries, and pancakes for EVERY meal. For one thing it's unhealthy and not something that should be encouraged. Second, niether Rory or Lorelei had the type of bodies that would allow them to eat like that. It was just so unrealistic.
