No, you absolutely can't do it at Shady Grove. I tried and the options they gave me were: either time they assigned to me or go F yourself.

Anonymous wrote:OP. I wasn't even going to chime in again, but thought I should just clarify that it is actually my 5th retrieval, so not a one-time thing. I'm not sure why you'd assume that. I was with another clinic previously and never needed to dictate the time of the retrieval before, in case it helps you judge me differently.
There are plenty of different situations and important circumstances that can make arrival in the very early a.m. hours extremely difficult. I don't need to go into what those might be or outline what's going on in my particular case, but I can assure you that this is not simply an effort to make things more convenient for myself. Laugh at me all you want, but it doesn't hurt to at least explain my circumstance to them and see what they do with it.
In general my experience with Shady Grove has so far been very different from the way many others here describe it, so maybe I'll have a different experience with this also. Here's hoping! Good luck to you all.

Because in some cases there are scheduling issues that come up. Like DH can't stay the entire 3 hrs, and they won't let you take a cabbie back. It's not a hair appointment, but at what it costs, they can get a second freaking operating room and have some flexibility with scheduling. I find the entire business model to be very anti-customer, starting from the 40 people waiting like cattle in the morning for monitoring. Financial people who are clueless, and these OR gods who do whatever they want. I once refused to have a procedure (that was not an egg retrieval) because they gave me a 3 pm appointment - no, I will not starve myself all day because they are cheap a-holes. I told them either to put me on a different day in the morning, or I'd get it done elsewhere. It was not a cycle related, but of course an additional revenue for SG that they didn't want to lose.
I'd understand if having egg retrieval a was a regular occurrence. But it's not. It's most likely a one time thing for you. I'd just accept whatever time they assigned me.
