I haven't been to a Target in 2 years and used to go regularly before.

Costco. I only go when I run out of something, about every two months. It usually costs me a.couple of hundred, but that's still better than a hundred a week at Target.

About once every month and a half. I buy my dog food, dishwasher, detergents and home basics like that. They usually last about that long. Also, I'm doing more on Amazon. The PP is right that you need a mop and come out with a million cute things that you don't need.

You didn't ask but my reasons for cutting back were financial and I Marie Kondo'd my house. Win win.

I can't imagine cutting out Target. Their sale prices plus Cartwheel app prices are pretty good and I can get a variety of things I need in one place. For example, last night I bought some fruit, juice, nuts, 2 big jugs of kitty litter, cat food, Kleenex and more (um, fall M&Ms for 40% off with the app) for $35 (saved 5% with the Red card). Maybe all the splurge stuff is on the bottom level of my Target, which I rarely go to, like the electronics, household stuff, kids clothes, etc. I don't think I ever get anything that I don't need to use that week...except maybe the M&Ms.

I went there yesterday for windex. $209 later , I had a cart full of Halloween costumes, tons of candy, a bunch of Halloween decorations, birthday gifts, soda, diapers, food, lotion, and god knows what else. I forgot the windex though.

I need to stop going there.

I love Target and don't feel bad about it at all! Get what you need... and a few extras won't hurt. I would just encourage you to clean out the clutter at your house and see how much you have that you don't need.

I cut out Target & Costco trips and when I did, I realized that I did not need all that stuff. When I go to Costco now I only get what I need- Soap and stuff. When I go to Target I also have a list and I'll save it for one big trip.

+1 This is the same for me. Also, I use cash only. When my cash runs out for the week I don't let myself buy anything else.
