Been to maybe 20 European cities as a tourist. Seville is among the best

Truly amazing food. Barcelona is great, but man, eating and drinking in seville. Went to one great and reasonably priced high end restaurant. Had a 80,year old port for 15 euro. Amazing

Barcelona

I loved Seville and Madrid. You should go for dinner LATE, that's when things start to wake up. Like after 9pm. Seriously. Take a siesta in the afternoon (3-5)and stay up late.

I hope you have an amazing time. Spain is an amazing country.

A great trip for 8 days is Seville - Cordoba - Granada. Great food, great tapas, great wines, beautiful historic city centres, the Alhambra, spectacular cathedrals (especially the one in Cordoba that used to be a mosque, very, very interesting), great city life and street atmosphere. Can't go wrong with this.



#2. i lived in Seville for a summer after college and it is sooo wonderful. lots of tiny little streets to explore, Andalusian food is amazing, shopping, etc. day trips to Cordoba and Granada are easy and wonderful. a lot of what to see in Seville is outside, so not really museum-y. i would totally agree with this itinerary!!!

+1. Barcelona is very touristy, in fact it was our least favorite city we visited because of it.

I do like Barcelona but if any place is going to be called "disneyland" in Spain it would be heavily touristy Barcelona, which probably attracts more tourists than any other city in Spain.

Oh, and correct.....Madrid is totally walkable too - all Spanish cities are. They don't do the 'burbs like we do in America. It's pretty much city/town or country. You'll be fine that way in most any city.

Barcelona hits the bill for all of that. Romantic (no dinner til 10!), just noshing around in the bars otherwise, totally walkable, truly known for artists - architecture and art both. Big enough not to get bored and fun enough to have something to do or just sit around and drink if you want. It's a cool town. I feel like you might get bored in the smaller ones like Granada and Sevilla. And, it's more romantic than Madrid.

I guess what I'm really just trying to figure out what are the best cities in Spain that are walkable and have great food and shopping from local artisans (i.e. Not H&M only). i just don't want to go to Madrid, for example, and find out it's not walkable (like LA for example) and the main thing to do is museums, or miss out on an amazing lesser know city that we would love because it has all three attributes.
