It baffles me how the service can continue to be so surly. I mean, I know service work sucks. But that a successful shop should continue to hire such unpleasant people over a period of years...I mean, either the workplace is toxic and that's why they're all so unpleasant, or they genuinely like each other and don't care how they come across to customers.

My husband walked into LRF to buy a pie and they refused to sell one to him because he hadn’t ordered on-line and selected a time to pick it up. I understand it was his error, but why not just sell him the pie since he was already there and explain the procedure for next time? The staff there lacks basic customer service skills. He bought a pie at Whole Foods instead, and there won’t be a next time for LRF.
I’ve also had terrible experiences with the staff both pre pandemic and during. Such a shame, the food is good and I love going next door to Politics and Prose. But I don’t like being made to feel like I should be honored to breathe the same air as the staff.

Anonymous wrote:Stay away from the breakfast burrito. They are ridiculously delicious and despite their huge size you will want to eat 10. Mmmmm breakfast burrito....
Anonymous wrote:Their cuban is delicious. Not authentic, but really good and juicy.

In its early days, I'd written it off because ordering seemed chaotic and I didn't like their overdone baguettes. But their prepared foods, pantry items, and baked goods are more various than in the early days and there's a lot there that's really, really good. Yummy soups in their fridge. The flow for ordering and paying is much improved.
