What's the frat scene like at these 2?

2 visits to Kenyon we believed it to be a very liberal environment. Lots of students in somewhat personalized attire, very gay supportive and open, much more than the typical Ohio school. We have not visited Sewanee but I would be surprised from the number of kids going there from Episcopal School, the location in Tennessee and the even more isolation than Kenyon that it would be super liberal. Anyone see a difference?

Kenyon is going to be more liberal than preppy/fratty Sewanee, no question. However, the difference is incremental. Gay kids are entirely within the mainstream at Sewanee. Millennials, in my experience have broadly moved beyond tolerance, solidly into acceptance. If you take issue with a gay kid because of his sexuality at Sewanee, your are going to have problems with his frat brothers.

Sewanee is isolated but only slightly more isolated than Kenyon. It's about 1.5 hours from Nashville where Kenyon is about an hour for Columbus. If I had to pick between Nashville and Columbus, I'd pick Nashville every time - even with the extra 30 minute drive.

The two schools are similar small liberal arts schools in rural areas. You have to look for yourself.

If Sewanee is fine with LGBT clubs and a Democratic Socialists club, they should have no problem with what I propose.

Maybe find an alternative to "nationalist" because that has a certain, well, nazi (national socialism) ring to it. I'm assuming you didn't already this. If you mean "Christian conservatives" or "Christian monarchists" or "Christian conservative philosophers" then say one of those.

Both are excellent liberal arts schools, both have strong writing programs, both are hot schools with DC area applicants, both are in the middle of nowhere, both have purple as a school color. Flip a coin.

My DD really wants to go to Kenyon. Anyone here tell me what it is like? Seems very expensive and isolated. Am I missing something?
