Take the Jeep away? Issue is taking the car away makes my life miserable.
The dad who ran over and killed a 4 month old baby being pushed in a stroller in front of both parent's kids' school.in Lorton last week was texting and driving.
Take his car and his smart phone away. Get him a basic flip phone for emergencies (can't fun/group text on a flip phone).
A little inconvenience for you is a much better option than him killing someone.
Sell the jeep.
When you get him a new car eventually, make it a slow ugly boring car.
No 16 year old needs a cool car like a jeep or sportscar.

1) write an essay on why they should not do that
2) watch your choice of 3 online videos re: people dying from texting while driving
3) share their favorite of three on their FB/insta. And include a comment (not just a share)

I get it. Im a mom of teen drivers. But this really shouldn't be a question. If this were my son, he wouldn't have a car until you could trust him whether it was a day or a month. And he wouldn't have a car and a phone together. I'm sure you remember all the kids who have died over the past few years and all of the kids who killed other kids and ended up in jail. No way convenience trumps the risk of your child's behavior.

You were asking for trouble providing him with a jeep. I'd say no car for 6 months at least then an old car like a Honda civic.
Think about what happens ALL THE TIME to new you.g drivers, boys especially. Do you want to bury your child, or escort him to prison?

He's oldest of 3 children, diff. schools, diff. activities, etc. It won't be easy.

Take away the Jeep and the driving priviledges. Sell the Jeep as the PP did and when you decide to let him drive again, he can "borrow" your oldest ugliest car you don't happen to be using at the time.

Our son drove drunk once. He was told repeatedly what would happen if he did this yet he did it. Since we bought the car, paid for all repairs, inspections, tires and insurance, we not only took the car back, we sold it.

You can buy apps and actual hardware that will monitor your teens driving. Buy one, tell him you have reason to believe that he has not been responsible while driving. Tell him you will be monitoring him.

He's shown he's not responsible enough to be driving a car. He's on your insurance, any infraction he makes is going to come back on you. That car would be taken away so fast that his head would spin if he were mine. He'd also learn to live without his phone for a nice chunk of time.
Once he's earned your trust back and you Let him drive again, another stunt like that would mean revocation of your sponsorship of his license. Driving is a privilege, not a right just because he's 16
