12 - paintball, laser tag, paintball, sky zone, bowling, Dave and busters, top golf, etc.

Both my boys are now in high school. My older son did go kart racing freshmen year and just a dinner with 10 friends.

OP here -- I am against the sleepover mostly because of issues with a few of the boys over the last couple of years. There were fights, candy ground into the carpet, one kid drinking 8 sodas in the middle of the night and throwing up. I'm just not up to the sleepover thing again. I don't mind the planning. It's the marathon party I can't deal with.


With this info I would not want to host a sleepover either! I think if his heart is set on a sleepover then you allow it only with 2-3 friends. Take the kids to a movie and then have pizza and cake at home and then let them play video games with snacks. By 12 I would not expect elaborate scavenger hunts and activities. His friends have demonstrated that they cannot handle this type of party.

I'm the poster. It worked out fine, everyone was on their best behavior, thankfully. We also purposely didn't invite anyone we thought might be a problem.


But if you read OPs response they specifically note the kids were not well behaved which is why they don’t want to host a sleepover. Having at a hotel would be even more stressful as they could damage property that could lead to expensive charges.

I'm the poster. It worked out fine, everyone was on their best behavior, thankfully. We also purposely didn't invite anyone we thought might be a problem.

About the sleepover in hotel idea ... I would hate to be a guest at that hotel at that time! What a nightmare for others.
