At our school, kindergarteners had a pin that has parent contact info and how they are going home on first day of school. I walked my child to class on first day and asked teacher a few questions directly. She had a clipboard and asked how my child would be getting home. I basically let them know 4 different ways - open house info sheet, official school how to get home sheet, pin on child and teacher asking me on the first day of school.
Just wanted to add that I also have a 2nd grader in the same school and I have received nothing! I did fill out info sheet at open house for him too. He knows how to get on the bus already though.
