NP here and I've done this too. We camped at all of them, and I'd recommend that everywhere except Zion. Loved Zion but their campground is just one open parking lot (no trees or anything to break up the space). Add no showers on top of that (pay and wait in a long, long line for a shower at the climbing store) and it's kind of miserable. That's where I'd stay in a hotel next time.
you must has had a bad spot. We got a great camping spot at Watchman. it was one where you had to walk a little to get to but it was private and had am amazing view of Watchman. i will agree though that the no shower aspect was a negative.

We did this, too, pre-kids... We actually hit all 5 Utah national parks plus the north rim of the Grand Canyon. We mainly camped. But that was in August. In March-April, the north rim is likely to be snowed in. Check the nps websites about expected weather for each month.

agree with the assessment that you only need a day at Grand Canyon unless you're hiking, especially if it's a snowy time there (where you can't hike). More stuff to do in Sedona.

Not the PP but I've done both. If you want to camp and not drag gear, there is a Panguitch KOA that has tents.
