You were NOT wrong, you just ran into a self centered asswipe of a human being. Dogs should not be anywhere on a playground and a dog chasing little children should be removed from the park immediately.

OP here. I do avoid the areas near water where I know there are often unleashed dogs swimming. And in general I am fine with well trained unleashed dogs... When the owners hold or leash them when asked. Not all children and legally leashed dogs are ok with being approached by strange dogs... It's when the entitled owner refuses to watch/hold/leash dog when kindly asked that I find offensive/dangerous/illegal. I'd rather not report anyone but there are real arses out there.

The woods are public and should be safe for everyone.

One dog even lunged at my two year old when we were not with our dogs... Is attacking kids ok too? Children also need the woods, the outdoors and to run free.

Yep, and in DC there are PLENTY of off leash dog parks people can use. Anyone who thinks their dog is ok off leash should obviously be able to bring them to a dog park since these off leash dogs should be dog and people friendly and apparently, according to their owners, need lots of exercise, which playing with other dogs would provide.

No need to go off leash in areas it isn't allowed.

Please call 911 or the park police immediately when you see this. It is illegal for a reason.

If your dog needs to chase wildlife in the woods, I would recommend you stop bringing it into a city. Learn to follow the laws or GTFO

Agree. PP apparently has 40 year of dogs that aren't trained to behave in a city environment and expects everyone to oooh and aaaaah over that sad accomplishment. Uh, I moved to the city from a rural area where my dog was off leash constantly, chasing wildlife being his main source of exercise. My dog adjusted and his life is none the worse for the change. You ain't in farm country, PP, get your dog(s) on a leash.
