I hope DH also supports fiscally conservative policies. Stop supporting government programs that extend life or feed people. We'll all die faste, and won't need 3.5 people for every person on welfare. Otherwise, he's full of crap.

+1. I feel terrible for the kids I have. I can't imagine that they will grow old happily. I look at the old people in pictures of refugees and think that will probably be America in another 50-150 years. Maybe they'll manage to eek by before it gets awful, but probably not my grandchildren. It's so sad.

Me too.

It's "eke."

Yes, it is so sad. Please- educate your children adequately.

I know my colleague's husband once joked that they had one kid because it was "ecologically sustainable" (he's an economist). I think there was more to it, but still, I got a chuckle out of that one!

We also decided to be one and done, but not specifically for environmental reasons. Still, I'm glad we're not contributing to overpopulation (although I have several good friends with three kids, so nothing against that choice for those who really want large families).

+ 1

+1

I feel the same way. Of course, I'd prefer to have no children and adopt, but my husband is pushing for babies.

Yes, reading, comprehending, and caring are all telltale signs of idiocy.

Np here. I agree that all humans should be removed from the planet.

The replies on this thread are horrible. Are Americans just clueless about environmental impact? Or do you just not GAF?

Mom here. I always felt this way. It was a significant factor in my decision to adopt instead of procreate.

I have four kids, but it's totally cool since my sibling and two close friends are childless. It all evens out.

Any chance your DH is distracting you with this to avoid impregnating you as he grapples with whether or not to leave you for his soulmate?

Where does he stand on expensive social programs like social security? Is he in favor of reducing the number of workers required to support a single beneficiary?
