Maybe I just know some unusual people/couples, because within my circle of acquaintances I'm aware of a handful of 5+ year age gap relationships... some are working out, some fell apart.
In any case, OP's DD needs a gentle reality check to accept the fact that not all romantic interest will be reciprocated. Unfortunately, this is not likely to be the last time she's interested in someone who does not return that interest. It happens at least a few times to most people who date. The key is to move on with grace and dignity.
Not PP but it's not a six-year age gap that's a problem, but the huge difference in maturity and life experience between 18 and 24.

My DH and I have a 5.5 year age gap. It means nothing now, but we never would have dated when I was 18.

Has she ever had a boyfriend before? It's a rough age for unrequited love. I would just check in and see how she's doing over the next few weeks. If she's still checking his social media and brooding after anther week or so I would consider giving her a reality check. Save the heartache for a real break-up

Another message to convey might be to keep work life and personal adventures separate.
The heart wants what it wants, sure. But she needs to learn to make an effort to focus on work goals, professional networking (ok, at that age: poised positive helpful attitude), rather than crushing on her boss.
Of course, you can talk all you want, and she may or may not listen.
But one day your words will jibe with hard-won experience, and she'll be that much farther ahead.
