The amount of sheer ignorance and arrogance on this thread is astounding. Please do go out and try these "non-sports" for yourself and let us know how it goes. When you come back sore and frustrated from doing it badly, you may rethink your position.

I think golf requires a lot of skill, but not a lot of athleticism. I can't understand WHY it's an Olympic sport. Maybe to give me time to actually get some stuff done around the house without being glued to my TV watching the real sports?

So the following Olympic events are not sports based on your definition:

Diving is a sport - it requires athleticism and physicality.

The others require strategy and mental skills - like chess. Activities and hobbies, but not sports.

Curling is down there for sure, but at least it's on ice, which requires decent balance and core stability.

Golf on the other hand... yep super athletic.



And sure there are some heavy lifters, wrestlers, etc. But they also are pretty effing strong/muscular and are ok with breaking a sweat.
