My mom always used to tell me if I misplaced my belongings that was my fault and I should keep better track. What a hater.

Op's friend probably spent the equivalent of those $15 doing all the driving for 3 errands on a day when the ac would be blasting.

OP, Hugs - stuff like this bugs me too and I am in a pretty good place financially. If you are really hurting financially, there may be places to get school supplies for your kid. Why not ask the guidance counselor or school office? I would not, however, let this ruin your friendship.

Who goes school shopping with another mom? That sounds kinda silly to me. OP, do you not have a card that prevents you from going school shopping on your own. Things are bound to get mixed up and school shopping in itself is not fun, it can be stressful. You just lost out, move on. Send me your address, I'll mail you $15.

Just tell her to let you know if it pops up, then she gets a pass for mixing it up with hers or not being able to find it. "If you come across that bag of crayons and notebooks, can you let me know? I don't want to buy more in case they are in your car". Then if she doesn't tell you within a few days, it's really gone.

My ex hasn't paid child support in years. Use a credit card and charge it.


How is it good advice to ask someone to incur debt to replace something they already bought and might recover?

So your friend is guilty of not really looking for your bag and just saying she can't find it.

Now you know what kind of person she is: and untidy person who has difficulty getting organized and therefore sometimes can't be bothered to find stuff. It doesn't mean she can't be a good friend in other regards, OP. None of our friends or family or spouse fulfill 100% of our needs.

If you were grabbing multiple bags, maybe you didn't have a tight grip on that bag and it slipped out somewhere between the car and your front door, and you didn't notice? That's happened to me before.

Or maybe your friend couldn't find it at first look but will find the bag among her stuff later and return it.

OP, have you tried calling the store to see if you left it? I know you've never done it before but honestly it is easy to do once if you're distracted.
