I was a former inclusion counselor for many summers at the JCC! I always appreciated invites to visit with my camper! Notes, small gifts of appreication were always appreciated. The counselors work very hard -and its always nice to be recognized- even with just a note and /or small token...

We have stayed in contact with 2/3 my daughter's inclusion counselors. They are such nice young adults. We usually take her out for a big dinner at a restaurant at the end of the summer. We invite her to visit during school vacations. We pay her to babysit a few times and pay well for the babysitting. They make so little at JCC and work so hard. We had one dud that we've never spoken to again but 2 fabulous ones. One requested my daughter 3 years in a row (from pre-K through 1st) and then we had one for 2nd and one for third grade. The dud made for a not so great summer.

Im astounded that people think "take them to dinner" and force them to spend more time with your difficult child is a "gift".
If you want them to enjoy a meal on your dime buy a gift certificate and let them invite their preferred guest. Im guessing its not going to be your family.
Is this a gift for the counselor or for your kid to get more time with them?
