Yeah, I think this is just an aspiration. In the same settings, he's also said he wants every student to be able to get into an application school, be it Walls, McKinley, Ellington, etc.
I do think 4-5 students got into Walls this coming year. That's about 10% (from a class of 48).

I do not personally know the details of the plan. I do know that it involved hiring / approval of the MS teachers by the magnet HS teachers. There is probably more to the plan. I'm not privy to the details and we were not at SWWFS when the switch occurred. My kids are in ECE.

How does the principal plan to meet this goal? By raising test scores so that kids qualify to apply to SWW? Because other than raising test scores, I don't know how he can commit to getting 30% of the kids into SWW. Also, where are these goals stated? If he just made some inspirational speech at a back-to-school night event, I wouldn't put too much stock into it.

And since there's a decent amount of subjectivity in terms of who gets into SWW - if one scores in the top half on the test - this probably could happen although the rest of the city will probably scream that it's rigged.
Regardless I think competition to get into SWW is getting a bit stiffer by the year.
