I can't bend down to clean like I used to so I bought a baseboard buddy and a micro duster with an extension handle. I also use the micro duster for my tall light fixtures and recessed lights. I clean those things twice a year but we have no kids or wear shoes in the house and don't live like pigs.

I use a damp swiffer for ceiling fans.

OP here - Thanks, I'll try this! The brush someone posted earlier looks promising, too, but I don't want to spend 50 bucks on a baseboard cleaning tool.

We are no-shoes in the house, too. When we lived in a house with flat baseboards, I didn't really think about it because some dust would just collect on the flat top. But with curved baseboards, I feel like I see dust/crap in the grooves all the time! I can't unsee!

One cleaner that we used had a genius way to clean them. Take a towel and cut a hole in the center. Dampen it with water. Slide it onto a broom (handle. going through the hole you cut). My baseboards were never cleaner.

Run your finger along one. If it isn't dusty, your cleaner has been doing it.

OMG we never think to wash our baseboards! Although our home is only about three years old and there aren't kids yet. We do swipe them with the vacuum every now and then but far from anything that would be considered routine. I also doubt our cleaning lady washes them either. Somehow we still manage to always get comments about how spotless our home is from visitors. Guess I found my next rainy day project

The bathroom is the worst. With the humidity from the steam, dust sticks to the baseboards. I use a mop and clean it when I mop the floors. I do also vacuum it, but once in a while, I mop it because the dust really sticks to the baseboards.
